Daniel Mengden, starting pitcher, was first drafted by the Houston Astros in 2014. He was traded to the Oakland Athletics on July 23, 2015. He pitched in the minor leagues in 2014 and 2015.

Mengden pitched in 14 games as a starter with the Athletics in 2016. He finished the season with 2 wins to 9 losses, 71 strikeouts to 33 walks, and a 6.50 ERA in 72.0 innings. He also pitched 98.1 innings in 17 games as a starter in the minor leagues.

Mengden had foot surgery on February 8, 2017. He spent part of the 2017 season on the DL, part of the time in the minors, and part of the time in the majors. In 7 games with the Athletics, he pitched 43.0 innings and he had a 3.14 ERA.

Mengden spent time on the DL in 2018 with a sprained right foot. In 22 games, he had 7 wins and 6 losses, 72 strikeouts to 26 walks, and a 4.05 ERA in 115.2 innings.

Mengden finished the 2019 season with 5 wins and 2 losses, 1 save, 42 strikeouts to 27 walks, and a 4.83 ERA in 59.2 innings in 13 games. He also pitched 64.0 innings in 13 games in the minors. He didn't pitch in the postseason.

Mengden pitched just 12.1 innings in 4 games in 2020. He had an ERA of 3.65.

Mengden became a free agent on October 9, 2020. He played in the Korean Baseball Organization in 2021.
