Daniel Stumpf, relief pitcher, was first drafted in 2012 by the Kansas City Royals. He pitched in the Royals' minor league system from 2012 through 2015. He was a relief pitcher in 2012 and 2015, a starting pitcher in 2013, and both a starting pitcher and a reliever in 2014.
The Philadelphia Phillies acquired Stumpf in the Rule 5 draft on December 10, 2015. He missed 80 games of the 2016 season after receiving a suspension for PED use. The Phillies returned him to the Royals on July 25, 2016. He pitched in just 7 games with the Phillies in 2016.
The Detroit Tigers acquired Stumpf in the Rule 5 draft on December 8, 2016. He finished the 2017 season with no wins and 1 loss, 33 strikeouts to 15 walks, and a 3.82 ERA in 37.2 innings in 55 games.
Stumpf spent time on the DL in 2018 with ulnar nerve irritation. In 56 games with the Tigers, he had 1 win and 5 losses, 37 strikeouts to 16 walks, and a 4.93 ERA in 38.1 innings.
