Deolis Guerra, relief pitcher for the Oakland Athletics, was first signed by the New York Mets in July, 2005. After two seasons in the Mets' minor league system, he was traded to the Minnesota twins on February 2, 2008. He continued in the minors, first as a starting pitcher from 2008 through 2010. He began to transition to a relief pitcher in 2011, pitching only in relief in 2012.

Guerra became a free agent on November 4, 2013. Sixteen days later, he signed a minor league contract to continue with the Twins. A year later, on November 4, 2014, he again became a free agent. He signed a minor league contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates on November 18th.

Guerra joined the Pirates for 10 games in 2015, before being designated for assignment on July 31st. In those 10 games, he had a 6.48 ERA in 16.2 innings of relief. He also pitched 36.2 innings in 25 games in the minors in 2015.

After becoming a free agent on October 27, 2015, Guerra again signed a minor league contract with the Pirates on December 7, 2015. Three days later, he was claimed off waivers by the Los Angeles Angels. In 2016, he pitched in 44 games with the Angels, finishing the season with 3 wins and no losses, 36 strikeouts to just 7 walks, and a 3.21 ERA in 53.1 innings.

Guerra spent part of the 2017 season in the minors. In 19 games with the Angels, he had 2 wins and 2 losses, 22 strikeouts to 12 walks, and a 4.68 ERA in 25.0 innings.

Guerra became a free agent on November 3, 2017. He spent the 2018 season in the minors.

Guerra elected free agency on November 2, 2018. He signed a minor league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers on December 10th. He spent most of the 2019 season in the minors, playing in just one game with the Brewers.

The Philadelphia Phillies claimed Guerra off waivers on February 5, 2020. He pitched just 7.1 innings in 9 games in 2020, and he had an ERA of 8.59.

Guerra became a free agent on October 14, 2020. He signed a minor league contract with the Athletics on February 2, 2021. He finished the 2021 season with 4 wins and 1 loss, 62 strikeouts to 20 walks, and a 4.11 ERA in 65.2 innings in 53 games.
