Grant Dayton, relief pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels, was first drafted in 2010 by the Miami Marlins. He pitched in the Marlins' minor league system as a relief pitcher from 2010 through 2014.

Dayton was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 15, 2015. He spent the entire 2015 season in the minors.

In 2016, Dayton pitched in 25 games with the Dodgers. He finished with a 2.05 ERA, no wins and 1 loss, and 39 strikeouts to just 6 walks in 26.1 innings. He didn't do nearly as well in the postseason. He pitched 3.1 innings in 7 games and he gave up 6 hits, including a home run, and 3 runs for an ERA of 8.10. He struck out six batters and walked two.

Dayton finished the 2017 season with 1 win and 1 loss, 20 strikeouts to 12 walks, and a 4.94 ERA in 23.2 innings in 29 games. He had Tommy John surgery in August, 2017.

The Atlanta Braves claimed Dayton off waivers on November 20, 2017. He spent the entire 2018 season on the DL.

Dayton was again on the DL in 2019, with a fractured foot. He pitched just 12.0 innings in 14 games with the Braves. He didn't pitch in the postseason.

Dayton pitched in 18 games in 2020. He finished the season with 2 wins and 1 loss, 32 strikeouts to 11 walks, and a 2.30 ERA in 27.1 innings. In the postseason, he pitched 2.0 innings in 1 game, and he gave up 8 hits and 8 runs.

Dayton spent time on the IL in 2021 with left thigh inflammation and left shoulder inflammation. He had a 6.23 ERA in 13.0 innings in 13 games. He didn't play in the postseason.

The Angels released Dayton on November 7, 2021. He signed a minor league contract with the Miami Marlins on March 22, 2022, and he was released on May 17th. He signed a minor league contract with the Angels on May 21st.
