JaCoby Jones, infielder, was a top player in high school. In 2010, He was named the Mississippi High School Player of the Year. He holds the record for the most hits of any Mississippi high school player.

The Houston Astros drafted Jones in 2010 but he opted instead to attend Louisiana State University. At LSU, he was again a top player and in 2012, he won the Cape Cod Baseball League Home Run Derby.

Jones was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2013. After two and a half years in the Pirates' minor league system, he was traded to the Detroit Tigers on July 30, 2015. In November, 2015, he received a 50-game suspension for his second violation of the MLB drug program.

Jones played in 13 games with the Tigers in 2016. He batted .214 with 6 hits. He spent the rest of the season in the minors.

Jones played in 56 games with the Tigers in 2017. He batted just .170. He also played in 90 games in the minors.

Jones finished the 2018 season with 89 hits, 22 doubles, 11 home runs, 13 stolen bases, 34 RBIs, 142 strikeouts to 24 walks, and a .207 batting average in 129 games. Defensively, he played 55 games in left field and 67 games in center field.

Jones spent time on the DL in 2019 with a fractured wrist. He finished the season with 70 hits, 19 doubles, 11 home runs, 26 RBIs, 94 strikeouts to 27 walks, and a .235 batting average in 88 games. Defensively, as a center fielder in 85 games, he made 193 putouts and 4 errors.

Jones spent time on the IL in 2020. He played in 30 games and he had a .268 batting average with 26 hits and 14 RBIs. Defensively, he played 28 games in center field.

Jones spent most of the 2021 season in the minors. In 36 games with the Tigers, he batted just .170.

Jones became a free agent on October 6, 2021. He signed a minor league contract with the Kansas City Royals on December 1st. He was released on June 12, 2022.
