Jameson Taillon, starting pitcher for the Chicago Cubs, was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2010. He was a starting pitcher in the Pirates' minor league system from 2011 through 2014. He had Tommy John surgery in April, 2014, and he missed the entire season. The following season, he didn't play due to a hernia issue.

Taillon joined the Pirates' starting rotation for 18 games in 2016. He finished the season with 5 wins to 4 losses, 85 strikeouts to 17 walks, and a 3.38 ERA in 104.0 innings.

In 2017, Taillon pitched as a starter for the Pirates in 25 games. He finished the season with 8 wins and 7 losses, 125 strikeouts to 46 walks, and a 4.44 ERA in 133.2 innings.

Taillon had a good season in 2018, finishing with 14 wins and 10 losses, 179 strikeouts to 46 walks, and a 3.20 ERA in 191.0 innings in 32 games.

Taillon had Tommy John surgery in August, 2019. He finished the season with 2 wins and 3 losses, 30 strikeouts to 8 walks, and a 4.10 ERA in 37.1 innings in 7 games.

Taillon spent the shortened 2020 season on the IL recovering from Tommy John surgery.

The Pirates traded Taillon to the New York Yankees on January 24, 2021. He spent time on the IL in 2021 with a right ankle tendon injury. He finished the season with 8 wins and 6 losses, 140 strikeouts to 44 walks, and a 4.30 ERA in 144.1 innings in 29 games. He didn't pitch in the postseason.

Taillon became a free agent on November 6, 2022. He signed with the Cubs on December 19th.
