Joe Jimenez, relief pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, attended the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy as a teenager. After graduating, he was signed by the Tigers. He was a relief pitcher only in the Tigers' minor league system from 2013 through 2016. In 2016, he also played in the Puerto Rican Winter League and he was named the league's Rookie of the Year.

Jimenez was named the Tigers Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2015 and 2016. He finished the 2015 season with a 1.47 ERA and the 2016 season with a 1.51 ERA.

In 2017, Jimenez pitched in 24 games of relief with the Tigers. He finished the season with no wins and 2 losses, 17 strikeouts to 9 walks, and a 12.32 ERA in 19.0 innings.

Jimenez finished the 2018 season with 5 wins and 4 losses, 3 saves, 78 strikeouts to 22 walks, and a 4.31 ERA in 62.2 innings in 68 games.
