Kelvin Herrera, relief pitcher, signed with the Kansas City Royals in December, 2006. He pitched in their minor league system from 2007 through most of 2011, joining the Royals for just 2 games in 2011. He was both a starting pitcher and a relief pitcher from 2007 through 2010 and just a relief pitcher in 2011.

Herrera pitched in a career high 76 games with the Royals in 2012. He finished the season with 4 wins and 3 losses, 3 saves, 77 strikeouts to 21 walks, and a 2.35 ERA in a career high 84.1 innings. The following season, he had a 3.86 ERA in 59 games.

In 2014, Herrera had a career low ERA of 1.41 in 70 games. The following season, he had a 2.71 ERA in 72 games. In the 2015 postseason, when the Royals won the World Series, he pitched 13.2 innings in 11 games. He gave up 10 hits and 2 runs and he had a 0.66 ERA. He struck out 22 batters while walking just 3.

Herrera had career highs in saves (12) and strikeouts (86 to 12 walks) in 2016. He finished the season with 2 wins and 6 losses and a 2.75 ERA in 72.0 innings in 72 games.

Herrera pitched in 64 games in 2017. He had 3 wins and 3 losses, 26 saves, 56 strikeouts to 20 walks, and a 4.25 ERA in 59.1 innings.

The Royals traded Herrera to the Washington Nationals on June 18, 2018. He finished the season with 2 wins and 3 losses, 17 saves, 38 strikeouts to 10 walks, and a 2.44 ERA in 27 games with the Royals and 21 games with the Nationals.

Herrera became a free agent on October 29, 2018. He signed with the Chicago White Sox on January 8, 2019. He spent time on the DL in 2019 with a right oblique strain. He finished the season with 3 wins and 3 losses, 1 save, 53 strikeouts to 23 walks, and a 6.14 ERA in 51.1 innings in 57 games.

The White Sox released Herrera on August 2, 2020. Four days later, he signed with the Chicago Cubs, but he was released on August 26th. He pitched just 2.1 innings in 2 games with the White Sox in 2020.

Herrera didn't play professional baseball in 2021.
