Luis Torrens, catcher for the Seattle Mariners, first signed with the New York Yankees in June, 2013. He played in the Yankees' minor league system in 2013 and 2014. He had right shoulder surgery in 2015 and he missed the entire season. He spent the 2016 season in the minors.
The Cincinnati Reds claimed Torrens off waivers on December 8, 2016. They then traded him that same day to the San Diego Padres. He batted .163 in 56 games with the Padres in 2017.
Torrens played only in the minors in 2018. He spent most of the 2019 season in the minors, playing in just 7 games with the Padres.
The Padres traded Torrens to the Mariners on August 31, 2020. He finished the season with a .257 batting average in 7 games with the Padres and 18 games with the Mariners.
Torrens finished the 2021 season with 84 hits, 16 doubles, 15 home runs, 47 RBIs, 99 strikeouts to 28 walks, and a .243 batting average in 108 games.
