Mike Clevinger, starting pitcher for the Chicago White Sox, was first drafted in 2011 by the Los Angeles Angels. He pitched in the Angels' minor league system from 2011 through 2013.

The Angels traded Clevinger to the Cleveland Indians on August 7, 2014. He continued to pitch in the minor leagues in 2014 and 2015.

Clevinger pitched in 10 games as a starting pitcher and 7 games as a reliever with the Indians in 2016. He finished with 3 wins and 3 losses, 50 strikeouts to 29 walks, and a 5.26 ERA in 53.0 innings. He also pitched 93.0 innings in 17 games in the minors during the regular season. In the postseason with the Indians, he pitched 5.2 innings in 4 games and he gave up 3 hits, including a home run, and 3 runs. He struck out 3 batters and walked 5 and he had a 4.76 ERA.

Clevinger pitched in 21 games as a starter and 6 games of relief with the Indians in 2017. He finished the season with 12 wins and 6 losses, 137 strikeouts to 60 walks, and a 3.11 ERA in 121.2 innings. In the postseason, he pitched 1.1 innings in 2 games and he gave up 2 hits and 3 runs. He struck out 3 batters and walked 4.

Clevinger finished the 2018 season with 13 wins and 8 losses, 207 strikeouts to 67 walks, and a 3.02 ERA in 200.0 innings in 32 games. In the postseason, he pitched 5.0 innings in 1 game and he gave up 3 hits, 1 home run, and 1 run. He struck out 9 batters and walked 3, and he had an ERA of 1.80.

Clevinger spent time on the DL in 2019. He finished the season with 13 wins and 4 losses, 169 strikeouts to 37 walks, and a 2.71 ERA in 126.0 innings in 21 games.

The Indians traded Clevinger to the San Diego Padres on August 31, 2020. He finished the 2020 season with 3 wins and 2 losses, 40 strikeouts to 14 walks, and a 3.02 ERA in 41.2 innings in 4 games with the Indians and 4 games with the Padres.

Clevinger spent the entire 2021 season on the IL recovering from Tommy John surgery.

Clevinger became a free agent on November 6, 2022. He signed with the White Sox on December 4th.
