Phillip Ervin, outfielder, was a top player at Samford University. In 2012, he was named the Cape Cod League MVP. The Cincinnati Reds drafted him in 2013. He played in the Reds' minor league system from 2013 through 2016.

Ervin spent most of the 2017 season in the minors, playing in just 28 games with the Reds.

Ervin played in 78 games with the Reds in 2018, and he batted .252. Defensively, he played 39 games in left field, 4 games in center field, and 33 games in right field. He also pitched in one game.

Ervin played in 94 games with the Reds in 2019. He finished the season with 64 hits and a .271 batting average. Defensively, he played 61 games in left field, 25 games in center field, and 17 games in right field, and he made 107 putouts and 2 errors. He also played in 40 games in the minors in 2019.

Ervin was claimed off waivers by the Seattle Mariners on September 3, 2020. He finished the 2020 season with 11 hits and a .149 batting average in 19 games with the Reds and 18 games with the Mariners. Defensively, he played at all three outfield positions.

The Chicago Cubs claimed Ervin off waivers on December 22, 2020. He was claimed off waivers by the Atlanta Braves on February 22, 2021. He played only in the minors in 2021.

Ervin signed with a team in the independent Atlantic League on April 4, 2022.
