Ryan Schimpf, infielder, was first drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2009. He played in the Blue Jays' minor league system from 2009 through 2015.

Schimpf became a free agent on November 6, 2015. He signed with the San Diego Padres on November 25th. In 2016, he played in 89 games with the Padres. He started off very strong, hitting 9 home runs in the month of July and being named the National League Rookie of the Month. His first home run was on July 1st and his first grand slam was a month later, on August 12th. He finished the season with 60 hits, 17 doubles, 20 home runs, 51 RBIs, 105 strikeouts to 42 walks, and a .217 batting average. Defensively, he played 68 games at second base and 14 games at third base and he made 221 assists, 52 double plays, 112 putouts, and 6 errors.

In 2017, Schimpf's time was split between the majors and the minors. He had a .158 batting average in 53 games with the Padres.

The Padres traded Schimpf to the Tampa Bay Rays on December 12, 2017. He was traded to the Atlanta Braves on March 5, 2018. He was traded a third time on March 31st to the Los Angeles Angels. He was released by the Angels on May 22nd. He played in just 5 games with the Angels in 2018. He also played in 30 games in the minors.

Schimpf hasn't played professional baseball since 2018.
