Sam Tuivailala, relief pitcher, was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2010. He pitched in the Cardinals' minor league system from 2012 through most of 2015. He was named the Pacific Coast League Best Reliever in 2015. That season, he had a 1.60 ERA, 3 wins to 1 loss, 17 saves, and 43 strikeouts to 26 walks in 45.0 innings in 43 games.
Tuivailala first joined the Cardinals for two games in 2014. He spent the rest of the season in the minors. The following year, he pitched 14.2 innings in 14 games with the Cardinals. In 2016, he pitched 9.0 innings in 12 games. He spent most of the 2015 and 2016 seasons in the minors.
Tuivailala pitched in 37 games with the Cardinals in 2017. He finished the season with 3 wins and 3 losses, 34 strikeouts to 11 walks, and a 2.55 ERA in 42.1 innings.
