Tony Barnette, relief pitcher, was first drafted in 2006 by the Arizona Diamondbacks. He pitched in the Diamondbacks' minor league system from 2006 through 2009. The Diamondbacks released Barnette on January 5, 2010. He played in Japan from 2010 through 2015.

The Texas Rangers signed Barnette on December 15, 2015. He pitched in 53 games with them in 2016. He finished the season with 7 wins and 3 losses, 49 strikeouts to 16 walks, and a 2.09 ERA in 60.1 innings. In the postseason, he pitched 4.0 innings in 3 games and he gave up 3 hits and no runs.

Barnette finished the 2017 season with 2 wins and 1 loss, 2 saves, 57 strikeouts to 22 walks, and a 5.49 ERA in 57.1 innings in 50 games.

Barnette spent time on the DL in 2018. In 22 games with the Rangers, he had 2 wins and no losses, 26 strikeouts to 5 walks, and a 2.39 ERA in 26.1 innings.

Barnette became a free agent on October 29, 2018. He signed with the Chicago Cubs on February 1, 2019. He spent most of the 2019 season on the DL with right shoulder inflammation. He pitched just 1.1 innings in 2 games with the Cubs.

Barnette became a free agent on November 4, 2019. He hasn't played professional baseball since 2019.
