Trevor Williams, starting pitcher for the Washington Nationals, was first drafted by the Miami Marlins in 2013. He was a starting pitcher in the Marlins' minor league system from 2013 through 2015.

The Marlins traded Williams to the Pittsburgh Pirates on October 24, 2015. He pitched in 1 game as a starting pitcher and 6 games as a reliever with the Pirates in 2016. He had a 7.82 ERA in 12.2 innings. He spent the rest of the season in the minors, pitching 115.1 innings in 21 games.
