Tyler Anderson, starting pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, was a top player at the University of Oregon. He finished his time there as the university's all-time leader in strikeouts with 285. He was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in 2008 but he opted instead to continue playing for Oregon. Three years later, he was drafted by the Colorado Rockies. He pitched as a starting pitcher in the Rockies' minor league system from 2012 through 2014.

Anderson had an elbow stress fracture in 2015 that kept him on the DL for the entire season. In 2016, he pitched in 19 games from the Rockies' starting rotation. He finished the season with 5 wins and 6 losses, 99 strikeouts to 28 walks, and a 3.54 ERA in 114.1 innings.

Anderson finished the 2017 season with 6 wins and 6 losses, 81 strikeouts to 26 walks, and a 4.81 ERA in 86.0 innings in 17 games. In the Wild Card game, he pitched 1.0 innings and he gave up 2 hits, including a home run, and 2 runs.
