Zach Eflin, starting pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays, was first drafted in 2012 by the San Diego Padres. He was a starting pitcher in the Padres' minor league system from 2012 through 2014.
The Padres traded Eflin to the Los Angeles Dodgers on December 18, 2014. A day later, he was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies. He pitched as a starter in the Phillies' minor league system in 2015.
Eflin pitched in 11 games as a starting pitcher with the Phillies in 2016. He finished the season with 3 wins and 5 losses, 31 strikeouts to 17 walks, and a 5.54 ERA in 63.1 innings. He had knee surgery in August that ended the season for him.
