Carlos Gonzalez, Left Field

Carlos Gonzalez, left fielder for the Colorado Rockies, was first signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2002 but he never played with them. He spent seven years in the minor leagues for the Diamondbacks before they traded him in December, 2007, to the Oakland Athletics. Gonzalez was finally called up to the major leagues on May 30, 2008, playing in 85 games with the Athletics that season.


Troy Tulowitzki, Shortstop

Troy Tulowitzki, shortstop for the Colorado Rockies, first started playing with the Rockies in August, 2006. In 25 games that season, he had a .240 batting average with 1 home run, 2 doubles and 6 RBIs. The following season, Tulowitzki became known in the baseball world for his fielding at shortstop as well as his ability with the bat. He finished the 2007 season with a .291 batting average, 24 home runs, 5 triples, 33 doubles, and 99 RBIs.


Todd Helton, First Base

Todd Helton, first baseman for the Colorado Rockies, has played his entire career in the major leagues with the Rockies. He has been a power hitter for the Rockies, currently holding the third highest career batting average for all active major league players, right behind Ichiro Suzuki and Albert Pujols.


Walt Weiss, Manager

Walt Weiss has his first managerial position this year as the new manager of the Colorado Rockies. Although Weiss was first drafted as a player in 1982 by the Baltimore Orioles, he decided to pursue a college education instead. Three years later, he was drafted by the Oakland Athletics and he made his major league debut with them in September, 1987. After an AL Rookie of the Year first full year in 1988, Weiss continued as the Athletics shortstop until he was traded to the Seattle Mariners following the 1992 season.
